Objects d’art

Most of the things I make have a function which excludes them from being art. Art can have no other function than beauty or to elicit some emotion. While some of these could have another function if they were real, these are not real, and therefore, do not possess another function. That is the loophole I am exploiting to list these as art.

My version of Mayan war club. Normally the stone would be obsidian, but I liked the idea of making it a ceremonial club and using jade instead. I made the “jade” pieces out of epoxy.

This is a non functioning Soviet era piece of machinery. I took me 3 tries to break the plastic just right.

Polynesian shark tooth sword. It is said that you could decapitate a horse with one of these. The teeth on this one are plastic, so your results may vary.

Han Solo’s Blaster. Its not a real laser pistol. I painted the orange plastic model and made the case. It was for a friend of mine that has this as a tattoo.

This is an Atl-Atl. It was one of the first projectile weapons. I doubt any looked as cool as this one. The wood is Bubinga and the dots and amber spear head are resin.

Are bird houses art? Mine are!
